Right sculpture 6" x 4" x 3".  Artist Statement: The sculpture on the left, reflects how patients may become addicted to opioids.  The platform is a tablet, the items in front are syringes and the brain is represented by blue and white pills.  The subject's eyes are melting because they are left with nothing.  The sculpture on the right illustrates how the  big pharmaceutical companies put profits over helping patients.  The platform is a wad of cash, the eyes are dollar signs and the subject is wearing a suit. https://www.scientificamerican.com Purdue Pharma created the popular painkiller, OxyContin, and persuaded doctors to over prescribe opioids causing new addictions and countless deaths. This article explains where the opioid crisis started and how big Pharma's connection to it was brought too light. 

Gregor's Room "A visual response to the short story  The Metamorphosis  by Franz Kafka." White Copy Paper, Ink  Largest sculpture measures 8" x 6" x 3". Artist Statement:  The sculpture collection reflects my perception of the short story,  The Metamorphosis,  by Franz Kafka. Gregor refers to his reading table as his favorite piece of furniture before he metamorphosed so I felt this piece should be a warm and brighter color to emphasis his happier past.  This influenced my decision for the orange color.  The placement of the table isn't sturdy and the chair is fallen over because Gregor's sister took this furniture out of his room. The bed shape at the bottom starts out larger and brighter and continues to get smaller and darker to express how he used to have stability, but he slowly loses everything after his metamorphosis. I chose to represent Gregor as a clock because Gregor ultimately dies at the end of the story.  second view third view Detail

Repeat Various objects and materials including, a bicycle, a notebook, three crayons, a paper plate, three toys and an orange.   Inspired by the movie  We The Animals (2018) Artist Statement:  This assemblage explores the affects that living in an unstable and abusive household have on a child, especially the way such children express their emotions. The bicycle symbolizes the cycle of the abused becoming the abuser. The smashed orange on the plate represents the unstable home life. The crayons and toys are in three's because this story mainly follows the lives of three brothers. Lastly, the notebook is upside to show it's not suppose to be seen and its pages are ripped out to reflect mistrust and betrayal.
