The sculpture on the right illustrates how the big pharmaceutical companies put profits over helping patients. The platform is a wad of cash, the eyes are dollar signs and the subject is wearing a suit. https://www.scientificamerican.com Purdue Pharma created the popular painkiller, OxyContin, and persuaded doctors to over prescribe opioids causing new addictions and countless deaths. Inspired by the movie We The Animals (2018) Artist Statement: This assemblage explores the affects that living in an unstable and abusive household have on a child, especially the way such children express their emotions. The bicycle symbolizes the cycle of the abused becoming the abuser. The smashed orange on the plate represents the unstable home life. The crayons and toys are in three's because this story mainly follows the lives of three brothers. Lastly, the notebook is upside to show it's not suppose to be seen and its pages are ripped out to reflect mistrust and betrayal.
